Thank you for all your answers! When I say we discourage her we are never nasty about it or tell her off! I love my two babies to bits! And I have often grabbed an old towel to protect clothes/duvets etc..

if you're her primary care giver she sees you as a surrogate mother. so you get the slobbery kisses. but you could take her to her usual feeding spot and offer her some milk or adult cat food. she may or may not be doing it because she's hungry. as a kitten they associate snuggling with eating.
but dont force her to eat if she's not interested. or while you cuddle, put your thumb near her mouth and let her kiss that.
she may not ever quit the action as she grows up so dont get upset about it. trying to force-change the behavior would just create problems. cats dont come customized to your preferences so you have to take them as they are.
dont resort to using sudden loud noises or a water squirter. for the result of such an action, you could find piles of doo doo on the floor, furniture or heavily scratched furniture. and the enjoyment of having her in your house would be gone. when all she's just trying to love you in the only way she knows how.
honestly the cuddling is preferred to some cats who fight and claw incessantly (as one of my cats did).
something else. keep a washcloth nearby for those dribbles. and when she comes by to cuddle, drape your blouse or top with it, that could at least keep you dry. :)

One of the cats i had when i was growing up did the same thing, presumably because she was taken from her mother at too young an age. They are just suckling and to be honest with you i would say just let the cat suckle! You know life is good when your cat is purring away and showing real affection. Cats can take the blues away no matter how bad a day you have had!

When my kitten came to me with the same habit I started blowing a quick puff of air in his face the second he started licking. When hes stopped because he was startled from the air, he got lots of loving. The second that he started again, blow in his face. I do the 3 times your gone rule. Blow three times and if he persists, shove him away. He would then go to my roommate, who would treat him the same way. He has pretty much stopped this behavior, although, every now and then he forgets and tries it again, but we blow at him and he remembers again. Try it out, I hope it helps you. Cat spit can get annoying.

I also had a cat that used to do this, she used to do this to the bed covers, our clothes, the sofa, just about anything, and it didn't leave a pleasant smell either, so i found an old teddy bear which i noticed she did this to as well, so whenever i used to see her start doing this all i did was put the teddy bear near her and she'd just suck on that!

You can't, she is using your jumper or what ever as her mummy.Have you never watched what kittens do to mummys tum while feeding, well your cat is just doing that its a sign of pure love. \\\\just put an old cloth or towel down where it happens, keep it close to where you sit.

cats have different personalities just like humans. if she is doing this it usually means that she was taken from her mother too early or she feels it was too early. theres no way to stop this i'm afraid it's a psychological thins i'm afraid.
hope this helps

keep a water gun handy and squirt the cat in the face.
or
get a toy horn and blow it close to her
but the best way
have an tin can ...like a old pop can and put some pennies in it and shake it every time she does this to you

forget the cattle prods or chains and whips..they are not legal in this country..o lol

mine does this too, but she licks your hands. i hope its sign of love, a thank you for fussing me kinda lick. or maybe they are fussing us back?? think about. they like us fussing them, now they can hardly use their paws to stroke behind our ears, so maybe this is there way of fussing us back, they must think we like it!!
