I'm too shy to initiate holding his hand or something like that... besides, I think it's him who should be doing it if anything. However, I will try to invite him to something.

Find the courage to ask him out. Otherwise, you could be stuck at a stalemate for ever until someone with more motivation than you takes your place. Don't be left wondering what could have been. Go out and do!

being a very shy guy I know how it is....
Take your time and just show him you like him . but don't do to much to cause he mite be embarrassed. and that could make him withdraw. When he gets more comfortable around you on a one on one basic ..you'll find that he will open en up and be less shy around you ,but still be very shy around other people ...
best of luck and just take your time ,being shy is a good thing and you can really rely om shy people when you need him

Talking is a good start. Touching is the next step.
Find opportunities to hold his hand, touch his arm, rest you head on his shoulder. In cold weather, ask to share his coat if he's too scared to offer it himself. If you manage to get that close, tell him he smells nice.
Tell him your feet hurt (or are cold), ask him to massage / rub your toes.
Then, when you are both used to the body contact, put your arms over his shoulders, clasp your hands behind his head, lookhim dead in the eye, SMILE, and either-
ask him out on a date, or
ask him to take dance lessons with you.

Yep. You're pretty much at a stalemate.
Either one of you needs to make a move, or it's just not even worth bothering with.

be gentle and move slowly....once you two warm up to each other, it'll be fine...
first thing to do is get him to talk about himself
