Some unhealthy foods are already being restricted from being advertised in the hope that it will help combat child obesity

However, what will the effects be on the quality of television that children see. How will they compensate for the lost revenue.

The question isnt if it will help in any way, but what the potential effects would be on the quality of tv....

One thing that we must bear in mind ...no matter what rubbish they wish to advertise on TV or elsewhere the choice eventually is ours.
we have to know what to buy and what not. This is and depends on our own education and the way we want to eat and keep healthy and fit,we have to refrain ourselves from all the bombarding of commercials or any other forms of advertising and not be led by the nose or follow the what others are eating, wearing, etc . We keep our identity and choices at all times.
Why are you worrying about the lost revenue of these big companies whose main bait is just to make money. If you want to combat obesity then do not follow the modern trend that of rubbish in all sorts.
Then they will use other subterfuges to ask you to buy their products for reducing your obesity!

Junk food advertising is not pandering to the kids - it's pandering to the parents. If they don't have the willpower to say no to the child when they want sweets or fast food, they've only got themselves to blame when the child gets bullied in the playground for being obese.

i don't think that ads are the problem. i think that parents need to be more aware of what their kids are putting in their bodys. as far as the quality of tv being affected by junk food ads being taken off, i don't think spongebob or ed,ed,&eddy will be impacted in any way!!! most kids don't watch for the ads, they want to see their cartoons.
