I'm going to try and make a few new recipes today. I don't want to waste my time and money, so curious if you experts could tell me if I should make any changes to these recipes or prep methods.

1) CHICKEN WITH BARLEY & QUINOA STEW
Place 3 chicken breast halves (boneless) in crockpot with 2 cups water, pearled barley, cleaned quinoa, and large can of chopped tomatoes. Cook 6-7 hours on low setting. Add s&p to taste.

2) QUINOA PILAF
Sautee 2tsp olive oil, 1/2c diced onion, 1/2c mushrooms and garlic for about 4 min. Add 2 cups boiling water, 1/2c baby peas, and 1c toasted quinoa to the pan. Cover and simmer 15 min.

For the first recipe, I would add some garlic, onions and herbs (maybe oregano and thyme). You can also add some more vegetables (like carrots, celery, parsnips, mushrooms- whatever vegetables you like) to make it more stew-like. Can't really say what I would change about the quinoa pilaf, I have never made it, but the ingredients look good to me.

I wouldn't cut the cooking time on the chicken. It sounds about right for a slow cooker. Both sound good. Just remember to rinse the quinoa well to remove the off-taste.
