In general yes, but there are exceptions. For example, if we discipline a child for doing something wrong, then the child may not consider that we are being "nice" to them, yet if we don't discipline them, they may grow up with little or no sense of right and wrong. In this case being "nice" is a lose-lose situation.

Jesus and bible teach, turn the other cheek. Being nice to all is personal decision that anyone can make. Do onto others as you would have do onto you.
