Why do you want to go there in the first place ?

depends on the definition of winning you are using.

If by winning you mean neutralize the Iranian army and knock the government out of power- sure, no problem. The US could do it in a week or less, like they did in Iraq.

If by winning you mean create a stable, democratic and free society there- we have proven we cannot do that very effectively or fast.

The US does not want to go there- but they likely will do airstrikes to keep nuclear technology out of Iran. (if Iran does not back down).

Insurgent forces are crossing from the Iranian borders into Iraq and causing problems for our allied forces. Iran are trying to get nuclear secrets from Russia and other countries in order to construct plants that could be used to produce WMD's... They're also a threat to our allies, the Israelis.

So... those are some great reasons right there.

And yeah we could win a ground war with Iran if we needed to. There's gonna be a limit to these idiots sooner or later, and we have a highly trained military out in the field that can eliminate tons of threats while sustaining minimal loss (if any loss at all).

It wouldnt have been "convenient" to attack Hitler in 1936, when he was giving weapons and assistance to Franco in the Spanish Civil War. If you haven't heard of Franco, he was basically a Fidel Castro-type leader who led a military coup against the democratic government, took over and declared himself dictator for life. The US, England and everyone else didn't wanna get involved because it was none of our business.

Also Hitler announced his entire plan for wiping out the Jews, taking over Europe and eventually attacking the US in his sequel to Mine Kampf, published in 1928. Practically nothing changed between then and 1939 when the plan was carried out to a T.

Everything is connected...

I also hate to say it but we would be walking into a meat grinder if we tried to go into Iran conventionally. We either have to get the Jews and the Sunnis on the same page (Jerusalem and Mecca both agree at least that a nuclear Shiite theocracy is no good for anybody) OR we may have to use the Truman excuse and drop the bomb. Its too bad the only nukes weren't dropped on the Nazis instead of Japan.... Japan didn't deserve that but the genocidal maniacs of Nazi Germany definitely did. Maybe it would have scared Islamonazis like the Mufdi enough to change their ways instead of propagating Nazi ideologies well into the 70s and passing them along to both Saddam and the Iranians.

The USA will need to invade Iran at some point. The reasons will not matter, now that the USA has a foot-hold in an Arab Nation they will want more and more and try and get the Arabs the follow their Democratic way of life

It will never happen!!!

Not a chance. Even if he Iranian army engaged our forces, the terrorists who would follow them will not form a line and fight it out there or any place else. There would be more ghost fighters, hiding in cities, using mosques to store munitions and using women and children as human shields. It would be another boon doggle. How do you win a ground war against a nearly invisible enemy?

Iran is a threat to the Middle east

they are oil tycoons..
for 20+years Saddam held them at bay.

Now they all most have a open door

as long as were there they probably wont try but i have no doubt thats why their interfering in Iraq.

Maybe we should before it becomes a problem.

Nahh! I think we will just decide to turn their little turd world paradise into a huge border to border sheet of radioactive glass, and let Allah sort out the righteous from the unrighteous. Trying to build new democracies has proved to be a really stupid altruistic nightmare. You can't cure or convert the jihadi's and the rest of the poor muslims are either brainwashed by these filberts or terrified of them. It would be an act of mercy to euthanize the lot of them.

Who said anything about going to Iran of all the God forsaken places on Earth? Are you one of those fear-mongers trying to whip people into a frenzy with disinformation?

I don't think anyone believes we could take them on the ground, right now. Especially since they are on their home turf and they are not weak like Iraq was. If I were in charge of an assault on Iran, it would be by air and it would be from way up high.

BUT, we don't belong there no matter what is really going on in Iraq with the Roadside bomb thing. Hell, we don't belong in Iraq.

We really need to focus on bringing those in our own government to justice for their roles in 9/11.
