I've looked everywhere, even consulted with a nurse, and no one has ever heard of it before. Other than a killer name for a heavy metal band, I can't figure out what it is. I think it had something to do with mood swings/depression.

from what i have heard it's a relatively mild personality disorder typified by excessive anxiety or indecision and a degree of social or interpersonal maladjustment.

Are you sure it isn't Acoustic Neuroma? If so then:
Acoustic Neuroma is a benign (non-cancerous) growth that begins at the 8th cranial nerve, which runs from the brain to the inner ear. Any disruption of the signals sent along the 8th cranial nerve will interfere with hearing and with the patient’s balance. Hope this helps.

It might be anxiety neurosis, or acoustic neuroma. the latter is an ear disease (actually tumor of the nerve of the ear that helps us hear- kind of brain tumor. reconfirm the exact diagnosis.
