Suicidal pigeons. They go there to end it all.

The species name of our city pigeon is Rock Pigeon. They are native to areas in Europe, Northern Africa and South Asia. In the wild their habitat is steep cliffs. They have been released in cities and have spread over much of the world. Tall buildings and bridges are similar to their natural environment. Bridges are like shallow caves and provide protection and nesting areas.
Just a quick aside; the problems we have with pigeons show what happens when mankind screws around with the natural order. Introducing non-native species can wreck havoc with native birds. In the US we see this with House Sparrows, European Starlings and Mute Swans, which are beautiful, but extremely distructive.

its dark n safe from preditors but another question is why are pigeons only seen in cities, why not in the country side.

They roost with a roof over their heads (rail bridge) so there is no chance fro attack from above...
