I don't think it is a rip off. It will hopefully stop many people taking loads of cases and taking ages at the check in. If you are flying to the states, Canada and some other places you are still able to take two cases. At least you still get 23kg of free luggage allowance a lot of the airlines now only let you take 15-20 and you are charged for extra suitcases - or if you fly ryanair any suitcase. I appreciate they are not the cheapest airline but if you get an economy ticket with them it is often the same sort of price as companies like easyjet. If you want a better luggage allowance pay to fly world traveller plus. It seems to be everyone has decided to scream and shout without fulling reading the new allowances.

Read the rules and pack one bag each whithin the weight limits! Every carrier has you to pay for excess baggage so why not? I dont think its rip off since you can always pack less lugage or use postage servise for your excess luggage. What is rip off is that some airliners make you pay a bill for any luggage, hand luggage or checked in! Now that is ripping people on their money! Johan

This is indeed a rip off. I have always used BA for my trips to the US, taking two suitcases with me. Now that they are charging the earth for a second suitcase I shall take my business elsewhere. Hello Delta, goodbye BA......
