How would you see a Barbarian society or a society that valued its warriors as Gold and Silver, a society that has craftsman, engineers of all types and farmers working only to supply there proud warriors with the best of the best weapons and tools of war, warriors that boast about the battle victories with there homes cover in decrative Celtic art and there chests full of the skulls of there defeted foe. The warriors would be based on Viking beserkers were they would be trained to get into an enraged state by bashing each other up and getting drunk with some extra heavy drugs put into the cocktail that would get them into a reckless war state until danger is almost unknown.
How would you see a society like this, is it too much for someone like you to handle or would you fit right in and start getting drunk and taking up heavy drugs to get in an enraged state to fight of your foes with reckless behavior.

The Celtman has spoken and it shall be only read for now.

Didn't you ask this two weeks ago over in the Society & Culture forum?

I stand by my answer (which, BTW, you chose as best):

I'll add to this that the Norse (aka "viking") and the Celts were separate cultures. They overlapped somewhat in Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Hebrides (which the Norsemen conquered) and in northern Scotland (where they raided, and some chose to settle among the people already there). Therefore, the Norse did NOT cover their home with Celtic art - they covered it with Norse art.

Over time, Norse art went through several distinct and creative stages. To indiscriminately call it "Celtic" is an insult to the people you say you want to emulate (not that I have anything against Celtic art - it's also beautiful - it just shows a lack of respect not to differentiate).

Here's an overview of Norse art styles, Oseberg, Borre, Jelling, Mammen, Ringerike, and Urnes:

As for the skulls, what self-respecting barbarian puts them in a chest?!? They belong on poles on the palisade to serve as a warning and to scare the begesus out of anyone who dares come near (*chests*! I mean really ... what ARE they teaching in schools these days??)

Even so, as I'm sure you're aware, not all Norse warriors (and not even all *Vikings* among the Norse) were beserkers. So, if not even the Norse had the culture you describe how could you possibly RE-start it. On top of that, while it has been *suggested* (by certain modern scholars) the Battle Rage was induced by consuming 'shrooms, the fact is it was primarily psychological, a sort of self-induced hysteria.

So how would *I* see a culture like this? As deranged. And I say this with all due respect as I spend my weekends and several weeks every summer doing real Norse re-enactment.

My cousin was in the navy and he said that one time some vikings and pirates were doing battle in the pacific ocean. Seriously! No Joke.
