My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year and it has been mainly long distance. He doesn't have a lot of friends. He recently had a surgery done and then disappered to his ex-wife and daughter's house for 2 weeks to recupperate. He called me twice to say he was okay, then to say he could finally drive again.
We saw each other on Tuesday and he wanted to go out for a nice dinner. He had a present for me and I told him that it wasn't Valentine's Day yet. I didn't enjoy myself at dinner and found that I didn't want to hold his hand in the car and didn't want to be affectionate. He expected me to just be happy that we were together for that day and to pretend as though he's not treating me bad.

I told him that I am fed up with everything. Of course he said a lot of nice things and I told him that actions speak louder than words. He went home and we haven't spoken for 2 days now.

Don't understand. He took you to dinner, bought you a present and said nice things to you and every step of the way you rebuked his good intentions. So what's really bugging you and why haven't you come right out and tell him what it is? If the ex wife figures into this then speak up and let him know. If it's something else then let him know that also. But if you are truly fed up with everything, what ever that may be, then it may be time to call it quits. That way he can get back on the mend and you can find something, or someone, that will make you happy.

Are you sure it's an "ex" wife? Why did he go to her house to recuperate? Sounds suspicious to me. You deserve more --- a full time relationship - not just when he feels like fitting you in. It sounds more like you're his mistress, frankly. I'd say move on --- you deserve to be happy, not frustrated. And no matter what you say, you're not going to be able to change him one bit.

Dump him. Call him and tell him he's dumped because he's an inconsiderate slob. Then change your phone number if he tries to contact you again.
