Board games are great, I only usually play them with family at Christmas though.
Yes, I think more families (including my own) should play board games when they get a chance because they're fun. Sadly though, most of us would probably rather watch the telly instead.

Definately! With all the video games and technical stuff out there today, there is no sense of family when kids play those types of games. We have "family" nights that consist of board games and spending the night together. We love Life, Monopoly, Pay Day, Sorry, and we love card games too! I think every family can take at least one night a week to get together and play a game!!!

Yes - I used to play with my family and me and my partner play too. We don't have a television and this is a great way of spending those dark winter nights together. Sometimes we find we are really competitive with each other and at other times we help each other cheat. Mah Jong is probably our favourite - my partner gave me a beautiful set for my birthday years ago - we play an odd game for two people but really enjoy it when we can persuade friends into a proper game.

Yes definately!! We always have a games night at the weekend with the kids, and a bottle of wine of course!! I bought board games for the kids at xmas cos i am fed up of ps2, xbox and all these other computerised games taking over!! This is exactly why children dont appreciate the true value of family life these days! x

Yes they are great bonding experience with the family, opposed to sitting in front of the TV watching pathetic soap opera...
We just brought the new electronic Monopoly - Great fun!
I hope my fiance and I keep doing it, when we have children. Yes I do think more families should do activities together as a family, as many children seem to get easily bored theses days, and end up getting into trouble on the streets...

Yes! Our family does play board and card games. Some things we just do as adults (my husband and I), while for others our 14 year-old and maybe his friends will join in. Sometimes the kid thinks he's too old for games, and my husband and I will start playing without him; most times, he will wind up joining in.
Some favorites: Carcassonne, Balloon Cup, Munchkin (for D&D fans!), Reminiscing (great for grown-ups), Skip-Bo, Blokus, Mad's Spy vs Spy, and American Dream.
My husband and his friends play all the railroad tycoon-type games, and love Settlers of Catan. Husband and son still play D&D (see "Munchkin" for those of us who love the themes and concept but don't have patience for role playing).
Of course, at holidays, we all play Pictionary and Shanghai Rum and Cranium and Yahtzee and Clue and Hearts and Trivial Pursuit (my son is King of the Star Wars edition). And fight like cats and dogs over rule interpretation and whether significant others should be seated next to each other. It's awesome. :)

My family and I are having a monopoly game tonight with friends. May the best tycoon win.
I think its important for families to get together regularly to keep the bond tight, especially between parents and children.
I used to really enjoy playing chess with my dad as a child and its help us forge a good relationship in later years.
I hope you have a great time playing with your family.

My husband and I play board games loads and we intend to play them with our sons when they're old enough..... they're only 2 and 1! I think families should spend a lot more time just enjoying a simple game together xx

What a pleasant surprise to see so many of the answers saying yes, they DO play board games in their family.
Good question! It has gone a little way to restoring my faith in people! Thank you.

im 20, and we always played board games as kids, and it was great! my parents have recently started fostering kids and the benefit to the kids (who are 5 and 7), is so obvious! when they first came to us they were very behind but its so apparent how much they get out of simple games like dominoes, especially when the whole family is about!
