By how good the answer is, how witty and how much thought went into the answer. I will usually choose the one that gives me a link to back up their answer.

I have not asked much questions, but the ones I did ask (and actually chose the answers for) were for the most informative on each subject.
I think two were chosen by default voters because I hadn't the time to properly check any replies while busy with work.

I always choose by how fully my questions were answered, by how much thought was put into the answers, and/or whether someone did some research and offered an information source.
Several of my questions were awarded to people who disagreed with me or even called me a name (and then gave the best answer).

Honestly, most of the time I am choosing the best answers to my questions. It's on certain occasion that I let others to vote for me for two reasons: One, 90% answers given are surprisingly above par. Two, 100% answers seemed to pick their questions from other askers and somehow find their way into my question. In short, their answers are out of sync.
