When I was a kid I remember my grandma making refried beans the OLD fashion way. I'm NOT trying to sell anything with this ling in here but is the ONLY pic I could find of what I'm talking about.
Does anybody know what this item is called? hand colander? grinding colander? blade colander? I wanna buy a NEW one but I have no idea what it's actually called. Anybody has seen any of these and know what's their true name?
Thanks

The name of the item is in the description. It is called a FOOD MILL. You can find them in a culinary stores such as Williams and Sonoma or Butterfields. You can also find them that are cone shaped called a Chinoise (China hat) I inherited my mother's food mill. She used to use it to can tomatoes. That is another place that you could find a food mill is in a department store that sells canning supplies.

Never thought of using it to make refried beans I just always mashed them. Good luck and happy hunting.

My well-liked utensil is the twine whip, or whisk as some call it. I even have yet another this is a coil the place you are able to plunge it up and right down to boot as whipping something. they are tremendous for whipping eggs for easy fluffy scrambled eggs with a sprint of milk and a few cheese. i grew to become into inspired the 1st time I used one. they are far greater useful than utilizing a usual kitchen fork to whip up issues, and in one million/2 the time additionally. each kitchen ought to have one. i think of they are mandatory and an much less complicated option to the massive bowl mixer for a rapid pastime of combining or whipping.

That's a food mill. I use one to make applesauce so I don't have to peel the apples. Here are pictures of different kinds:
