I was talking with a friend while working to work and we start to recall certain DIY things that went wrong.
Do you remember the polystyrene tiles back in the 60's well our story is:
My father put them onto the ceiling fine looked nice clean and tidy until we sat down to eat one evening as we got into the conversation one by one the tiles fell landing on the people below!
the whole ceiling was then left without the tiles and all I remember is having fits and tears streaming down my face, poor dad!
Anyone had anything similar?

My dad drilled through a power cable in the kitchen, when the kettle boiled the steam would cause a big bang and short out the whole house. Had to live like that for 3 days til an electrician could come out.

I remember when i was about 12, my father had somone in to paper the living room ceiling. It looked good when it was finished, but as we sat down for an evening meal, the paer started floating down on to the table.Without a word, my father just collected it up and dumped it in the dust bin and carried on eating. It turned out that the ceiling had been painted with white lime in the past, and it shpuld have all been washed off before papering.

Hubby decided to install a shower in the upstairs bathroom instead of the bath. Nicked a water pipe when cutting the floorboard and our living room ceiling fell. Had to replace the ceiling, floorboards and we installed a new suite but with a bath, not a shower.
