They say that we should keep our bodies pure, no tattoos or piercings. I dont understand why In the christian religion and others that males are circumsized if at the end of the day God made us the way he wanted. Why are we changing that?

If say that the parents decide - Is that their right? Should it not be the individuals?

It is more sensitive yes, and some men need to have it done because the foreskin is tight around the head during erections and cuts off the blood to the head.

I really see this as something an individual should decide no other. but i still think that its best to leave it be the way it is.

Its not less hygenic, everyone who has a foreskin knows how to clean properly.

But thanks for the input

I would NOT circumcize my son. If he wanted it done then its his decision, not mine

Again I think its more of a US thing, we don't routinely circumcise in the UK. Its actually more of a Jewish thing than a Christian thing - same reason they can eat pork and dont have to do a ritual sacrifice for their sins every saturday anymore - Jesus cast aside all the old laws. There was one kid in my class at school who had a circumcision and that was for medical reasons - because the foreskin was too small and was very painful.
My husband is not circumcised and we have no hygiene problems because he bathes everyday. You could use the same argument to remove the labia in women (and they do in some countries in the west this is known as female genital mutilation or...... circumcision)

I did see a documentary on this and the foreskin contains the most concentration of nerve endings in the penis - so yes a man does loose some heightened sensation when it is removed. In the US it appears to be done for aesthetic reasons so that men can fit in when they shower together as teenagers - this was the common argument for getting the procedure done, parents were worried about their children not fitting in. The parents the documentary followed were most concerned about this and it seemed awful to put a baby through such a procedure for the purpose of conformity. The conclusion to program seemed to be that the health companies make an awful lot of money from a very little piece of skin. Therefore in the interests of money making vs a cash strapped NHS it pays the insurance companies to keep up circumcision by any means necessary be it myth (hygiene) or fear of the abnormal (conformity).

This is a good question. It proofs that humans are not created in god's image. If it was so, then no matter how hard you try you can't circumsized, tattoo or do damage to your body. It is just the figment of imagination of the christians.

Jesus Presented in the Temple
21On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.

The reason why God commanded Abraham to enter into the covenant of circumsicion was so that they would remember Him. As you can tell in the bible the people weren't to bright back then people would easily forget God, and do other things that weren't pleasing unto Him, but with Circumsicion the men will alway be reminded of God, since each time they urinate they can see the circumsicion and remember that they are under covenant from God, and that there are certain things that they must do, but later on God doesn't require the law of circumsicion anymore, the new way to enter into a covenant with God is baptism.

The Jews were the ones who originally circumcised male babies. It was a sign to God of their everlasting covenant. Nowadays it's done to keep the child from developing infections from not keeping the area under the foreskin clean.

It had not always been that way. It only became necessary as time passed and bacterias developed as a result of human pollution and genetic variation crept in. The same applies to having children with close relations. In the beginning, it was not a problem, but as genetic abnormalities crept in, he advised to discontinue the practice.

These days, there may be less reason for circumcising, due to medical advances, and antibiotics, but it has cured the problem, just shoved it back into the draw until a new mutation emerges. At this point of time, a new mutation has not emerged, but would you want your son to be one of them who is uncircumcised when a new mutation does emerge?

God made a covenant with Abraham that he would make him the father of a great nation, part of that covenant was circumcision, as far as I'M aware only the Jews still do it as a religious practice. Christian believe in the new covenant and therefore circumcision is not a religious necessity, it has more to do with a hygiene issue.

Exactly, Goethe, we are made in the image of God, meaning that we are symmetrical, standing upright, light hair on our bodies, etc, etc. We develop in the womb, so the whole 'we start out female' is just a way for scientists to translate it in a way for lay folks to understand it. God's existence is not covered up to those who seek and have an open mind and will accept things based on faith as well as on logic.

They do because science at the time believed that during sex, the foreskin would be a breeding ground for a lot of diseases which you could pass onto your significant other, and to remove it would be to reduce the risk of STD.
These days, there is a lot more evidence to support the claim that by actually not being circumsised is better in that it produces an enzyme which better protects you from any such disease.

Religious obsession with the sexual parts, it's people who are too lazy to wash regularly or don't have access to running water that need this, where is a place like that...yes the desert where all the other middle-eastern superstitious & religious nonsense comes from Judaism, Christianity and Islam...perfectly okay for them but out of context for the rest of us.

Religious branding of the genitals anyone?... No thanks!
