Does he eat a lot? Because yorkies are usually not big eaters and if he is eating too fast, it is because he is really hungry. So, either he is not getting enough to eat, or he could have tape worms. Even if you had him wormed as a puppy, tape worms have to be treated separately with an injection. Dogs get tape worms from eating or swallowing a flea and they are the only worms you can see in the poop. Start looking at the puppies poop and see if you see little white things that look like grains of rice. And sometimes, you can still see the worms moving in the fresh poop. They look like little threads moving. If you see that, take him to the vet and tell them you saw the worms in his poop and they will treat him for tape worms. If he has them, that is what is making him so hungry. If he has no worms, and he keeps on eating so fast, you will have to start wetting the dry food to make it mushy, so he will not choke. Good luck.

you should take the pellets and cut them up then make him sit and feed him a small bit at a time saying gently every time you go to give him one then if he trys to eat them really fast then shout NO and take it away until he carms down then try again this method my take just over a month to work properly but if it is still no better then take him to the vets and ask to see the diet specialist

Put clean rock(s) or glass paperweight(s) in the food bowl so he has to work his way around it(them). This was a problem with a couple of different Labs used for guide dog work and really helped.

Try mashing his food and feeding him small meals more frequently.
If you are feeding once or twice a day,the anticipation/excitement/hunger factors all contrive to make him a 'gobbler'.Small meals given at intervals during the day may reduce his voracious approach to dinner time

See a professional dog trainer. He can be trained to eat slower.

I would say mix it with water or some wet food, or chew it for him first.
