I'm planning to go to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
Any information about car-rental, hotel and sightseeing?

We spent about ten days in Chiang Mai, unfortunately never got up to Chaing Rai. There is a lot to do. We hired mopeds and joined the thousands on the roads, but was quite safe. We did a mountain trek for 3 days which included an elephant ride, raft ride and a rather rough nights accommodation on the top of the mountain. Shopping was excelent and I would do it all again. We found our accommodation at http://www.unusedrooms.com/specials/city/Chiang%20Mai.html
but if you are going soon search for standby hotel Chaing Mai.

Good luck and enjoy

Hi, I always find the best place to get information on destinations in Thailand is from the TAT website at http://www.tourismthailand.org. Here you can get information on the sights to see by the township.

As for car rental, you can get rentalright at the airport that you are arriving in. The rates are not very high. In the region of 1500b for a small car up, with insurances added, cost will be about an additional 10% more.

Otherwise, when you check ed into a hotel, you can ask the hotel for recommendation.

For hotel stay, it is either http://www.directrooms.com or http://www.asiarooms.com for a listing to choose from.

Have a good holiday. You can email me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com if you have other query.
