I doubt that you can install XP over Vista so you are gonna have to reformat the drive, make sure the bios is set to boot to cdrom as first boot device. You better have the original windows XP disk, put the disk in and reboot, you will probably lose a chitload of software you dont have CDs for, you will probably be scratchin your BUM for a week tryin to figure out whats wrong with your hardware and then end up lookin for all the drivers, you better hope you have the XP key! Save yourself some trouble next time and read the requirements on the software box befor you buy somethin!

OK! I am getting tired of people making uninformed complaints about Vista.
1) The Upgrade Adviser TELLS you if your computer will handle it.
2) I have been using Vista since Beta2 through RC1 and RC2 with only minor compatibility problems, but I did check with the above.
3) Microsoft is not at fault for the missing drivers for your computer. The component manufacturers had plenty of advance information, but sat on their duffs.
4) Too many people are running it for a week or less then giving up. You have to use it for an extended time as it is very different from XP. Learn it's tricks and new ideas through use just like we had to when XP came out.
5) Manufacturers are adding new drivers every day, so be patient!

I wish all new Vista users good luck and emphasize that patience is golden and there is a learning curve. To me it was a challenge and I have it running great now. Back to XP? No way!

Oh! And run Windows Update every day because Microsoft has a huge data base of drivers and adds new ones on a regular basis. Set Windows Update to run automatically.

Upgrading from domicile windows XP professional to domicile windows Vista domicile uncomplicated or domicile correct type can not be done. you are able to launch the installer from domicile windows XP professional, yet you need to do a sparkling set up.

exactly my point..several people here have gotten all excited about going to vista and i told em to stay away from it...absolute garbage. it needs a gig of memory, high end vid card, lots of compatibility problems and it spies on you...total junk. the problem is normally it destroys your key code in the computer as well...what you can try is clearing the cmos and a reinstall with your windows or restore disc but clear the cmos first as it definitely screws with your key code. again, absolute junk.

if you used it as an upgrade, then you can goto the control panel, add/remove programs and select it from the list. click remove and it should go back to the previouse OS. also you can try the restore feature. if not, then you'll have to reinstall XP again.
