Just thought I'd add my two cents worth...

I recently went to see a skin specialist, who advised me that sunblock should be an important part of everyone's daily skin care routine. However, she made it very clear that only sunscreens which contained Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are acceptable, as these elements that truly form a barer that protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Having looked at many cheap and expensive sunscreens, I found that many didn't in fact contain either of these properties. I'm not saying that her word is law, but with in the month I've seen her, I'd have to say she is brilliant.

The one I ended up getting in Z-Silc Plus. It's a little on the pricey side, but as long as it does what it says on the packet, I don't mind!

I hope this helps x

NO! A higher SPF will provide a better quality of protection. I work in a chemist, and I can buy 500ml of our own brand, 30+ sunscreen, for $9.99, rather than the $15.95 I would spend on the same amount of SunSense 30+ Sport sunscreen. And our own brand sunscreen is really, really good. I never ever get sunburnt when I've got it on.
Brands are usually about preference. They all have to work well otherwise they won't be allowed to sell them.

Not neccessarily. I've been told that Soltan from Boots is one of the best you can buy. It has a five star rating, which can be found on the back of most suncreams. It's a mid-range one, think it costs roughly £7- £9.

the higher the sp the better and thicker it is.

you are paying for the name too. I sell sunblocks, one is nivea and the other sea-O-sun......both made by the same company, Nivea is twice the price just because of the name and the presentation of the package.

We bought two bottles of sun cream for our kids when we went away last year one for £17 and one in the sale at £1.50. the 1.50 bottle went on a lot easier and stayed on nicely but the £17 bottle smelt much nicer!

Definitely. You pay for what you get. I bought a cheapo spray one once and I had sun stroke and prickly heat by the end of my first day on holiday. Buy the good stuff. Don't be tempted by saving a few quid.

oooo be VERY careful about sunscreen...block whatever...

the lot of that stuff is cancer agent material! try to get one made with natural products, like somethingwith aloe vera in it...

as to price, eh if you get something organic itll cost a bit more but shouldnt be to much. anything really high & your paying for a brand name & not something good....which'll probalby end up a cancer thing.

funny enough, this is why we use sunscreen, to stop skin cancer. LOL its a very tight dance between cancer from teh sun & from your own bottle!

I don't know that it is better but I'd go with a good brand. Expensive stuff doesen't necessarily mean it's better than the cheap stuff.

i usually buy yves rocher sun blocks - they re cheap and i checked on all my family they work perfect. once i bought nivea sun block - that didn't work at all, i was burnt. i wouldn't buy unknown brand at all - sun is a dangerous matter
