1999 dakota r/t : anybody know common problems with their (46re) transmissions?

i was told by trans specialist that the bands for 3rd gear sometimes come loose and fall out into the trans pan. i'm having problems with 2nd not engaging. maybe that happened to my 2nd gear?

Yeah that is a possibility, these 46re transmissions suck, I just had mine replaced like 2 weeks ago. Better take it to a trans specialist and get it fixed. Dodge transmissions suck, but yet I still love my Dakota R/T to death. Then again, I have a brand new trans in it so I love it for now.
