1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood[a] it.

The answer can be found a few verses down...in John 1:14

Okay, think of the Lightening and the Thunder, the visions of God, the Vedas that are photostated into the Enlightened Being (The Jesus Christ) and when the Enlightened Being make a sound (Tho) and tries to covey it to our limited intelligence who have neither seen or heard lightening or thunder nor any visions on them, how would it be like ? May be that's the Word (like the comprehension of sound beyond 20000 Hz which can not be heard by human sense organ, getting an effect of it with a 20000 Hz sound, ie very close and coprehendable to human senses), perhaps that is Word.

The Utilization of that great sound at 20000 Hz which is unbearable for most masses, when reduced and applied to hear beautiful songs, the prayers to the Lord, perhaps Life is something like THAT, the application of Word, that came from the Visions of Enlightened.

Imagine how difficult it is for common man to practice the Word completely, eventhough it is possible, it also seem so horrible to ordinary masses just like the 20000 Hz sound.

When the churches reduce the intensity and converts it to more melodious ways, perhaps using the sound, the visions of Jesus, become easier .

The answer is in the text above. The Word is God. The Life is also God. Through the Word of God, you will find Life. Not biological life, but devine life. The darkness is both the physical body of man and evil. Man, being of the flesh is susceptible to evil, ie) prone to sin, or the wickedness of the flesh. Earthly desires. It is through heeding the Word, or God, that he finds Life, or God, and can not die, or be consumed by the darkness, ie) death.

Verse 14 of the same chapter tells who the Word is if you haven't figured it out already.

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word is Jesus.

Light is truth and it expels darkness.

I think the Word is the Holy Spirit and the Life is Jesus giving us the Holy Trinity

The word is Jesus. It says that the word became man. That is why Jesus has been around since the beginning. That is why Jesus is God, that is why Jesus and God the father are one.

Word is Logos, God is life. He gave life to us. We don't recognize the light which is His Spirit within us.

The word is the truth, which is Jesus. The life is salvation. The light is enlightenment.

I think that is the biggest challange that evolutionists face. Not, how did we originate, but how did life start. Without God from which life emulates, there is nothing.
