If so, what did you like or dislike about the base? How far is it to the to coast (hours of driving)? How are the surrounding towns?Are there many attractions nearby? What wildlife did you encounter? Was it safe to travel through the country? What is the weather like? What did you miss from the US?

I was not but a friend of mine was. Steve and I were stationed together several years ago. He went TDY (temporary duty) there a couple of times. Once, he went during the rainy season. I remember him talking about the TDY. The Civil Engineers had to put plywod and plastic down and build up the ground areas to keep the mud out of everyting. I saw a few pics of the base. It loked ok but certainly not near the standards of US Air Force Bases.

no...when I was there on an interdiction mission in 77 we didnt go near anywhere with real people,just guerillas...the country is fine in the couple of cities that rate the name as long as you stay away from certain places..but it is a 3rd world country...a serious 3rd world country..note how many illegal immigrants are from there lately....
