People speak of loving your enemies, of doing good for evil.

But they hate Satan? Why? Is it only because he does evil?

What bible verse says that Satan is NOT an enemy to love?
Where does it say that we are to hate him?
It may indicate you can't serve 2 masters, but would God create
Satan if he didn't love him?

Aren't we to love the sinner (Satan) but hate the things he/she/they do?

I am not saying we should worship Satan, but if we hate Satan for being evil, shouldn't we hate every other person who is also?

I have seen some people who have done so much evil, I would of thought they are Satan. If it is ok to hate Satan for doing evil, isn't it ok to basically hate everybody since no-one is perfect?

Um, Steven, isn't it possible to love someone, such as Satan, while still not agreeing with what they do?

You don't "serve" your kids for example, by loving them in spite of their wrongs.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. If loving a sinner is serving them, aren't we all going to hell then?

Oh, and about Satan is a jerk who will never repent, I ask you this question. Would you ever stop loving your kid(s), even if they always did wrong? If you were a normal parent, no you wouldn't. You are supposed to LOVE the sinner, hate the evil they do.

Oh yeah..., some people do not have the hope of redemption, in fact, according to the bible, very few find it. Straight is the way, narrow the gate, few there be that find it!

So, with God knowing the majority of mankind will roast in hell (assuming the bible is correct), and with God knowing all the people who will burn in hell, why don't we just hate those horrid sinners, since God already knows they will burn anyway? No! Not what God said do. Said to love the sinner, hate the sin!

Besides, if you have the sweetest wife or husband or kids, but they fail somehow to make it to heaven, are you gonna hate them because they were "evil" and didn't make it to heaven? No you aren't! And if you can love your kids or family who roast in hell for being evil, why can't you also love Satan as well?

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Love and blessings

humble simple man, please see my answers in religion and spirituality. You have legitimate and heartfelt questions. I have been, and still am ( as every human is; including The Christ when He was here as a man ), torn betwixt the twain (good and bad). I have thought it could be possible for Lucifer himself to be redeemed when The God Of Creation opened my eyes to the truth. Christianity is not a religion; religion has been fulfilled and is now a lie: Christianity is real. See my answers and questions, yeah I still struggle with it. God loves "Lucifer-Satan-that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan" Beelsebub, Mephistophles... he has many names but The Great God Jehovah has many thousands of names. We hate sin but love the sinner. When a person accepts, repents, gets saved, is born again, or whatever you want to call it, a miracal takes place: The person is no longer a sinner, they are a saint and a son and redeemed from the curse of the law and the curse this planet is under. Yeah, they can still sin, but that does not make them a sinner after they have been transformed into a saint. I mean, I can go out in my garage and work and stand and sit and lay down and sleep for twelve hours but that does not turn me into a car.
My answer, in my opinion, to your question here is no: It is not "Basically ok to hate everbody since no one is perfect?."

satan IS evil - evil incarnate if you will. satan is not a 'sinner' - a sinner has the hope of redemption - satan does not. he does 3 things: steals, kills and destroys and there is no good thing in him. he was not made in God's image or likeness - only man has that honor. That is why we love the sinner and the reason we hate the sin. The author of sin - satan himself, separates man from God. There are things that God hates and satan is one of them. Ps 97:10 ye that love the Lord hate evil ---satan IS evil.

Seriously man in that mythology Jehovah is way more malevolent and evil than Satan. Satan just tempts people into gaining knowledge and freedom.

They also use Greek/Roman Pagan God names for Satan like 'Lucifer' and they symbolize this deity as a Dragon or Serpent.
I love Dragons. Satan is way cooler than Jehovah.

(edit)
I see what your trying to get at, if this 'God' Jehovah was the creator of all things (i don;t believe this) everything living is like his son or daughter. So to condemn your own son to an enternity of pain would be evil. If your supposedly all-powerful and are not bound by time you can just 'un-create' anything you do not like, but since you supposely don;t make mistakes there could be no need for any such things.

That is the way a true christian would think.

Most of the christians I know are decent people, however they are full of hate. As you have pointed out, they are simply confused. Their minister will stand there on sunday morning and tell stories of Satan's violent and destructive ways, yet he will expect you not to hate him for it.

I don't understand either man, your question is very similar to "What came first, the chicken or the egg"

I give you credit for the thought you have put into it, and thak you for pionting it out to the community, maybe it will open their eyes a little.

Ave Satanas

Man that like telling someone to go jump in a volcano. But I do see your point in a way. I mean he did create him for a reason. Is it a test to see if we can fight off the manipulaion of evil? I dont know but if god wanted to destroy him i am guessing he could but he keeps him their for a purpose. I dont know
