i dont know what the fasination about the sink is but lately i am always catching her in the sink. i'm not sure if she is trying to lick water from the tap, but she always has fresh water in her bowl. or sometimes she just sits in it. i want to stop her from doing this as its not very hygenic. does anyone know why she is doing this or any tips on how to get her to stop?

Its the water, my cats do the same thing they love running water. Maybe turn the tap on in the bath occastionly so your cat can have a play... just tell her no very firmly when you catch her in the sink and the best way to stop it completely is not to let her on the bench at all

mine does exactly the same, she always sits and sleeps in the bathroom sink. whenever i try and uses she jumps up and gets in. most of the time i figured its because she wants a drink, so i tend to leave it 1/2 full with water so she can have a drink. i always give her fresh water in a bowl but she wil not touch it. i leave her water in the sink because iv noticed cat prints down the toilet, so i think she drinks from there if i dont put any in the sink. who knows whats wrong with her water bowl!!

Leave about an inch of water in the sink. This should stop the cat sitting in the sink. Cats do not like water.

Mine does the same, not sure what the fascination is (cats can be so strange!!) but I just let him. A quick spray with Dettol and a wipe solves any hygiene problems!! He also likes to drink water from the tap even though he has water in his bowl so I just leave it running for a few minutes then he can have a drink!!

Cats do what they like and it sounds like this one likes the coolness of the sink and the fresh water supply. Perhaps you could keep the sink covered with a board or something! You can not change a leopards spots!!

some cats prefer running water to water that has been sitting in a bowl even for 10 minutes, Ive no idea why.
you could buy it something like this if the sink is a problem

Get a spray bottle and put water in it. Every time she does something you don't want her to, spray her with water. For the sink, You can just put a few inches of water int the bootom. Not too much though because you dont want her to drown-she wont be excpecting the water in the sink.

Cats & sinks seem to go hand in hand....i have three who will at every oportunity drink water from a running tap...they will also play with same if i leave the tap running!
believe or not some cats..DO like water and will play with it when possible..i even have a cat that moves her water bowl around the room!( messy but my floor gets a daily clean!)

we have trained our cats to obey when we klick our fingers. you could try doing this by klicking your fingers and either saying 'down' or pick her up and put her on the floor. she will soon associate the klickinhg fingers with 'do not do'!

You could also invest in a 'drinkwell fountain'it rotates the water and the cat belives its running water.

as the previous answer mentions, u could try filling it with a bit of water.... or u could keep some orange peel near by - cats don't like the smell. or u could get a plant mister and squirt your cat with a little water every time u catch her in the sink. i know it sounds cruel, but it's only a tiny bit of water, and it worked on my cat to stop him walking all over the kitchen work surfaces.

My cat does the same thing, it's cool in the porcelain sink and they really like the water cold. It's just curiosity it will wear off if you ignore it otherwise they will do it just to get attention, like a child. I take the cover off of the back of the toliet so mine can have the water cold. She loves it too. Good Luck
