In construction, a greenfield project is a project to be constructed on a piece of land that has not been previously built on.

This is opposed to a greyfield (land that has been previously built on - typically urban infill sites) and brownfield (land that has been previously built on and/or has had industrial uses and thus potentially contaminated with hazardous pollutants).

In business?

Start-up situation, no rules, no baggage,no history, good or bad.

If you get the opportunity to get involved in one, DO IT - don't think, just jump in. with both feet. Make a huge "splash".

It's a bit like a "blue sky" scenario, that really happens.
