You have to try it to know. No ever imagined they would play golf until they tried it and got hooked

Love your answer Sid Verma. Gave it a thumbs up. But don't forget. It's the only game that you can call a penalty on yourself. And most golfers do.It's an honor system. You want to know how good you are getting. So you keep score the right way. And you really do meet some interesting and very nice people. i'm just finishing a 4 day trip to San Diego. 4 great rounds of golf and met 8 great people.

I go along with everything Sid says but would like to add a couple,
Its the only game that all generations in a family can play together and remain competative. And the real clincher- Golf gives more to charity than the next 5 sports put together..
Oh! and did Sid say its great exercise??

If God made a better game than golf he must of kept it for his self.

Because...

- One of the few sports you can play all through your lifetime...from 5 to 85...

- One of the few sports where you can always improve
- a sport in which you learn a lot about life... how do you analyse situations
- a sport that tell you the kind of person you are.. a risk taker, conservative, aggressive...
- a sport that teaches you to stay in control
- a sport that is all about balance
- the ONLY (and i could be wrong here) sport in which you are hitting a stationery target....hence use all your skills, imaginations, techniques, intelligence...wind, grass, slope, speed, temperature..assess all the elements and hit your best shot if you can.......when you hit a good one...You just cant beat that feeling!...when you hit a bad one......well...smile & move on to the next shot!
- and yes did I mention exercise...a brisk walk in a clean fresh environment

I rest my case!

It better than fishing & you don't need a boat to play golf.

Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.It's very addictive. The chavs say it's boring 'cos they can't afford it..and would n't be allowed in a club, even if they could.
cesare214...ask Tiger Woods what the point is..he gets 85 million of them a year.

Rocky R ..you are wrong..you can call a penalty on yourself in snooker too.
Sidverma..Archery also hits a stationary target, air rifle/pistol shooting too.Come to think of it,darts, football, hockey have stationary targets too, unless someone moves the goalposts.

when most all of our most admired celebrities and athletes from other sports want to get better at a game that should tell you something, from MJ to Gretzky to Elway to Samuel L to Trump...its something so challenging you can never master it...yet has moments so serene that meditation cant compare, competitive yet fun, a 4 hour getaway from the rat race...exercise, both mental and physical...those that dont get it primarily have never played...or are too closed minded to try...but be careful, its addicting...and not cheap...
