Is it better to take pounds or local currency?

Take pounds, travellers cheques in pounds or dollars or a credit card. That way, you can change money as you require it. It's much more expensive to obtain SL rupees in the UK and, if you take too much with you, you may find that there are limits on the amount of rupees you can take back out of the country again.

It's also much safer to take a credit card or traveller's cheques in case they get lost or stolen. Once cash is gone, it's gone.

I would change half your money here so you have some when you get there, then look around for the best deal while you are there. Happy holiday.

I hope this helps! I found it easier, to use a debit card, and safer. I hope you have fun. Take care.
