YES and it was terrible and heart breaking,
and sometimes the emotional scars still hurt,
and looking back I only stayed for the sake of the children.
hoping that things would get better, but they didn't.

yes. i spent 20yrs with a very physically and emotionally abusive partner.
i carried on because i believed that marriage was for life. when my children saw it happen to me and i saw the look on their faces..... i realised i had to leave. i had hidden it from them before that.
i have been away from him for over 2 and half years now and am looking after the children on my own. i have no family to help me and i work full time as i always have since i was 16.
it can be a struggle but at least we are all safe and happy and life is starting to get back to normality for us.
i have a new boyfriend now and hopefully my divorce will go through quickly so that i can draw a line through that part of my life finally.
if u are experiencing it i wish u well and urge u to get out of it now. for ur sanity and well being.
all the best xx

No I personally haven't been... I would never have any man put his hand on me, or undermined me in any form of way
.. But been in abusive household. My mum is now moved on, and re-married, after 7 years of 'leaving' my father.. I don't feel she has suffered from it, but her children have!
If a woman/man wants to stay in an abusive relationship that is there business, but I don't think the children should suffer from it. We didn't have any where to go, we were stuck in the house... They only split up because me and my sister had enough and got a voice of our own (at the age of 15 and 17), and TOLD my father just to leave... If we hadn't my mum would still be putting up with the same crap...
Love and have a great relationship with both parents... always been a daddy's girl, and very close to my mum... but it was just one of those things!

Yes I have, I was in the relationship for 7 years. My ex ex partner was a insecure bully... I realise this now.. He pulled my hair from my head, fractured my pelvis, black eyes, bruises or for saying the garden looked a mess!!! I took an injunction out on him and took him to court he only got a fine of £200.00 plus anger management classes!! But I stood up to him and he is still being a bully to his new girlfriend the same thing!! Think only prison sentences will help them.. Its hard and embrassing situation when you go throught something like this, but I am really strong and no man will ever lay a thumb on me!!!

My father used to shout and scream, and he got furious for the slightest thing. My mother used to rush to her bedroom, lock herself in and cry.
When I was no longer a baby, he would hit me for no reason except his temper. I remember him hitting me so hard that I wet my knickers and I had bruises all over. If he walked into a room, I immediately walked out because I was so afraid of him. Since then I have never been able to cope with persons who shout, scream and are violent. I just freeze and it has stayed with me for years. The only good thing that came out of it is that I swore I would never hit my children or frighten them, and I never did. They are my best friends.
These days there are several organisations which can help, and even the police can intervene, which they used not to do. You can get protection orders and, if the worse comes to the worse, go into sheltered and hidden accommodation. It would not have been any good for us as my mother would never have taken positive action against my father. She was too afraid of the social stigma. Thankfully times have changed.

Yes and it's something I would never wish to go through again, or wish anyone else to go through. It is soul destroying.
