I found out on valentines day my wife is expecting our first child .....I am so damn happy that even though we are not telling anyone yet as its only 3 weeks in I am walking around with a perma-smile on my face, and the missus reckons someone is going to suss me out !
Can anyone think of a cure? Does anyone think I even need one?

To answer the people who have told me to just tell people...I aways thought you left it a good few months in before breaking the news?
I know some people who havent told friends until they have had the 12 week scan. Is this unusual, should we let everyone know straight away?

CONGRATS! Don't hide your smugness Daddy! You have a right to be happy. It's a wonderful and beautiful thing. It's also beautiful to see a man so happy about bringing another life into this world! I'm so happy for you I'm smiling big and I don't even know you!
On a more serious note...I don't know if you all are religious, but if so pray for mom and baby's health, both during the pregnancy and afterwards. Pregnancy and new life are such fragile times.
Now back to the celebration!!! Make sure you take a little time to pamper mommy! Whewwww whooooo!

Rightly so you are so happy, many congratulations. The perma-smile could be due to lots of things but if your wife doesn't want it known just DON'T be tempted to let the cat (oops I mean baby!) out of the bag. Thing is carrying a child for 9 months can be a long time and all a female gets from everyone know is how far on are you? what date is the baby due? etc etc etc The further on your wife is the shorter the wait wil be when she decides to go public. Also is is sensible to wait until the 12 week scan, not a pessimist but seeing the actual picture (by the sound of you, your will absolutely burst with pride then) makes it all real. However, just maybe you could persuade her just to let the two sets of parents know now or within a few weeks? It would also be a way for you to release your pride a little. Remember to let us know after the event. Best wishes to all 3 of you!!!

most people wait til the first 12 weeks are up as a safeguard i.e don't tell anyone in case something happens, some medical weight behind it but mostly superstition.
I say shout it from the roof tops!! Youre obviously proud as hell and so you should be.
with an attitude like that you'll make a great daddy!
If you're wife would rather not tell so soon then explain your toothy smile away with 'yeah me and the missus are at it like rabbits, great sex cant stop smiling' lol then when you do tell everyone the news you've already paved the way with the tales of marathon bed gymnastics!!

congratulations, i'm also pregnant although i wish that my fella was as excited and enthusiastic as you! the only reason that people don't tell is because you are most likely to miss carry within the first twelve weeks, maybe your wife wouldn't want the sympathy if she did. however i found out just before christmas and told a few people straight away because they would get suspicious when i wasn't drinking over christmas and new year. don't hide your smile just let everybody see and wonder and if they ask why tell them that you are happy and when you reveal the news they will understand. i'm so happy for you and your wife x

But remember the reason you aren't telling people is (and I am not trying to rain on your parade here) because anything can still happen and it's better dealt with privately.
In any case, gives you time to be alone with your wife in the know and both fuss before family and friend start telling you what to do!

If someone should actually ask why you are walking around with a smile on your face, simply say: "Because I'm happy". You don't need to go into the reasons why, if you don't want to.
