What are your arguments for or against the existence of ghosts?

Ghosts in the sense you mean are demon spirits that are there for the purpose of deceiving. When a person dies, three things happen. 1.The "ghost" or the Spirit goes back to God who gave it. This is the "breath of life" given to us by God that causes us to "live." That breath of "life" belongs to God. This is what the Word meant when it said Jesus "gave up the ghost" and just before that Jesus said "Father into thy hands I commit my Spirit." 2. The Soul of man goes to the place in eternity that it chose while living in this life. Either heaven or hell depending on if it accepted Christ as Savior or not. 3. The Body (the physical body) ceases all function and dies until the time it is appointed for resurrection. There is no communication between the living and the dead. There are no "lost souls searching for their place" or "ghosts" lingering around because of unfinished business, tragic events whatever. There are only satanic forces that love to deceive and lead people away from Truth.
And yes I have seen "ghosts" but I knew them for what they were.

The ability to summon spirits is very real. Anyone who walks with the Holy Spirit knows this. There is even a scripture that speaks about it. It was a summoning, and that is done by witchcraft or other demonic powers. I believe it's possible that some of these spirits that were summoned (sometimes maybe by accident) stick around. I've been studying on this for the past couple days, still trying to work out some thoughts, but that's what I got so far :)

When I was partying to much in my younger days and burning the candle at both ends, I woke up in my studio apartment and a lady was sitting on my chair looking at me with such concern. almost as if she were very worried about me. She was shaking her head. I was so sure this was true I opened my eyes and blinked and made a conscius effort to tell myself what I was seeing. I called my mom at three in the morning and she was so sweet she said" I believe you honey". She never made fun of me.
Anyway I found out later that this old studio I was renting was a very historical place and there were lots of weird things that go on in there. No one will ever convince you, however I beleive this really happened to me. I would not have believed until I saw it with my own eyeds. There is suppoed thing called white noise you know they made a movie out of it. It scared the crap out of me and my hubby. We both could not sleep that night but then again we are major scary movie chickens. Anyway this EVP is I guess the best evidence because there is actual noise of Ghosts. SO maybe give it a look up and see what you think.

ghosts are residual energy
they are a lingering energy that remains in a place due to the strength of the energy of the physical life that was once there
that energy remains until another energy has replaced it
ghosts have been seen by many people witnessing at the same time, they have been captured on film and camera
they are not spirit and are not conscious
there are many cases to support this
one of the best being the case of the Roman soldiers who are often seek from their knees up , as the road they walk on is several inches below the modern surface ... suggesting that it is simply a memory of past times

Nothing I say will convince you one way or another. You have to experience them for yourself in order to believe because science has not yet reached the stage where it can prove a ghosts existance with conclusive evidence.

I believe that "ghosts" are merely self-delusional, sensory-hallucinations. People convince themselves that a completely rationally-explained incident is anything other than being "rationale". Besides, "ghosts" are a good concept to sell merchandise, too.

Oh, I totally believe in them. My friends and family have seen them. I watch Ghost Hunters all the time, and that is some real sh*t! Ghosts are very very real.

according to the Bible:
ghosts are actually demons who manifest in various manners.. semi visible or invisible to the eye.

they manifest to get the attention of others, to harass, to possess, to interest, to scare.. all in order to counter the Bible truth of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus always cast them out and told believers to as well.
