There are thousands of pictures and videos of people in the military hugging and kissing their loved ones. The only prohibition I know of is that umbrellas are prohibited.

No you can not hug, hold hands and kiss in uniform, but they are exceptions to that rule. When a SM is going to or returning from a deployment that can hug or kiss thier spouse. If you are walking around a military installation you can't do any of that. You also can't consumed alcohol in uniform, unless you're at some kind of event. These rules aren't really stupid, in kinda unprofessional to see that everywhere you go.

Celebrate Life has a great answer going so far.
They're also not supposed to stand or walk around with their hands in their pockets, travel in uniform (if they can help it) especially international travel. I don't know the stateside regulation or how well it's enforced, but overseas (i.e. Germany) they're not supposed to go to restaurants or bars in uniform.
Things like walking on a cell phone, hands in the pockets, etc are about professional appearance. Things like wearing the uniform to travel or go out (at least overseas) are about not making a target of yourself. And the other guy is right, there are tons of things but enforcement varies by base and acting commander.

I was in the Navy. Each service has their own uniform regulations
It's okay to drink in uniform. In foreign ports, sometimes Navy personnel aren't allowed to wear civvies on liberty. In early stages of traiing, sometimes sailors must wear their uniforms on liberty as well.
It's okay to smoke in uniform, in a designated smoking area. It's not okay to walk around with a cigarette.
It's okay to carry an umbrella while in uniform, but it must be plain black. No Barbie or Spiderman umbrellas ; )
Discreetly kissing a spouse goodbye is okay. Excessive PDA's are not.

PDA is allowed in certain situations such as Balls, Graduations, homecomings and farewells, promotions... :) But on a typical day in uniform there is to be no handholding or making out, LOL but a kiss goodbye or hello is fine (a small quick kiss)

For Navy and Marines they are not allowed to wear the working uniform such as Cammies out in town, the Army and Air Force can though I see them all the time at the mall, the grocery store, out to eat. But the other uniforms they are free to wear as long as they are not bringing discredit upon the service.

Lotsa times those rules aren't strictly enforced
Walk and talk on a cellphone
Walk and listen to headphones
Where sunglasses (formation)
Have something in your mouth (formation)
Have something in your right hand (cept a rifle guidon or flag)
Have a bulky appearance to any pocket in the jacket
That hug kiss thing is called PDA. Basically the goal is to maintain a very professional image, because you are representing yourself, your unit, your service and the US.
theres really TONS of stuff
but most of it isn't really serious.

I know that when my husband graduated Marine Corps boot camp, I wasn't allowed to kiss him or hold his hand. I did see people give pecks on the cheeks and lips, they wouldn't let you hold hands because they had to salute, so you had to wrap your arm around his.
