It's announcements made to try and prevent the "sheep" element all trying to use the same door/pair of doors on a train when there are doors all the way along the train. It might seem very clever or funny to have to ask such a question but the reason for such a request is to spread the load along the length of the train, thus avoiding delays in passengers unloading and loading which then would make the train even later thus giving rise to even more complaints about late trains, when THAT part of the delay is down entirely to the thoughtlessness of passengers.

Good question. Don't know the answer, though. Why do they say "stand clear of the doors", when nobody's really gonna stand in the doorway in an attempt to get crushed, are they? The only time that would happen is if the train was packed, but then you wouldn't have much chance to stand clear.

Especially infuriating when whichever door you try you still can't get on. The platform is stacked 6 deep with desperate people, all doors places staked out but the train doesn't quite stop in the normal place. Frantic shoving to realign with the doors before it stops and on comes this stupid announcement as if people are deliberately ignoring all those other empty doors. Fat chance! The other one is 'please use all available space' when we're all crammed in conditions that would be illegal for transporting animals. And the London tube is the most expensive in the world!

Trains are forever late. The queues waiting to board are furiously impatient. Someone placed a stop sign in front of their game of hurrying.

The annoucement comes. One step forward. You can feel people raring to sprint. There is an eagle glint to their eye.

The doors open. Crowd rush to train. Some look bewildered, follow the first person . All charge fast to the near door. Try to ram though. A tin of sardines.

But on down the platform is a sense of space and sensibility. Only a few wisemen are boarding the vacent lower carriages...

Are you referring to london's tube trains. If you're the only person to board a train,it might sound ironic. It is a recorded message for when there's about a hundred or more passengers on busy hours. It would be unwise for a hundred passengers to get in the same door as yourself because there could be a nasty accident...and so they have to spread out and use different doors.

In developing countries they use all door to boarding the train because they are not only boarding the train, some climbing the top of train to travel or using window to board.

Teehee, those tannoy anouncements can be so funny... or annoying... the one where I live drives me up the wall because he doesn't pronounce the "t" in "please read the safety noTices before exiting the train"...

...have thought about complaining on several occasions but then remember that I have better things to do... ho hum.

Although watching someone try and use all of the available doors would be quite interesting... in one and out the other until they get to the end of the train...

Good point! And they always make it extra difficult by announcing this game when the platform is really busy. Good think I'm tall, so I can push people out of the way easier. I usually manage to get on board a train seven times, what is your score?

I agree that the announcement doesn't make much sense. My theory is that someone started to confuse "Use all available space" [inside the train] with "Stand clear of the doors" so they said "Use all available doors" instead, and the mixed-up message somehow spread.

It's announced due to the fact that people just gather around certain sets of doors instead, of entering the train through door where there are less people. Its announced for Passengers safety!
