Do you learn about what hairstyles go with certian face shapes and what haircolors go with certain skintones?
I can't decide how to cut my hair so I was going to just go in and say basicly 'Do what you will'... is that a bad idea even if I give the hairdresser a basic idea of what I want?

You should always give the hairdresser a basic idea of what you want. Then its up to him/her to give you good advice and tell you whether or not the style and color will suit you.

YES! We DO learn what styles go with certain shapes of the face! AND certain colors with certain skin tones! Everyone thinks we take Cosmetology to get out of REAL schoolwork, but little do you know what we have to learn to pass!!!
If you go to a salon and they spend less than 5 minutes on a consultation for you, don't let them cut your hair!!!!!!! Bring a pic of what you like, and let them tell you what they think! If they say "Yep!" right off the bat, question them as to why they agree!
I am a stylist, I give a thorough consultation for the client because I WANT them to come back!!! DO NOT SETTLE!
Don't EVER say "do what you want" because you will not be happy with the result!
Bring them ideas, and if they don't have any other words to offer, don't let them cut your hair!!!!!!

i imagine a crappy tip is two money yet 3 is undemanding for a hair decrease 5 is maximum ideal for a hair decrease. yet once you do more beneficial like foils i imagine you need to offer 10 or more beneficial in accordance to how impressive the guy grow to be and how properly you imagine they listened to what you needed. for what you have become done i imagine 10 is solid and 15- 20 shows you fairly like what they did on your hair. which will lead them to paintings harder next time you bypass to them because they understand you're an effective tipper and savour them. desire I helped.
