They are wrong, but you shouldn't call them "morons." No one deserves to be insulted for their beliefs.
That passage there is talking about SPIRITUAL death, not physical death.
In order to be pardoned, one must be alive to accept said pardon. Hope this helps you.
As far as Joseph Smith is concerned, there are plenty of sites that lists the prophecies he gave that did not come true.

i'm very sorry to pay attention of your loss. right here's a proof of the thought and the place it comes from. This has a mentioned interior the bible, whether it is not any longer a bibllical or christian coaching. The verse comes a million Corinthians 15:29 which says "else what shall they do that are baptised for the lifeless, if the lifeless upward push in no way? Why are they then baptised for the lifeless?" the subject of this passage is ressurection no longer baptism. the finished of a million COrinthian 15 supplies a image of christs resurrection and of our very own ressurection, if we are christians. Paul is answering many questions related to the ressurection. He says even those pagans who baptise for his or her lifeless, accomplish that via fact they suspect there's a ressurection of the lifeless. He mentions THEY (Sorry to apply capitals yet I dont have italics) His comments do no longer become attentive to himself or the different christians with people who baptise for the lifeless. he's basically acknowledging that even pagans have self belief the lifeless would be ressurected. there have been 2 communities at pauls time that baptised for the cerinthians (no longer corinthians) and the marcionites. Christians did no longer and don't now baptise for the lifeless. The remark is a single reference which grew to become into used via Joseph smith to justify the baptism of the lifeless. Paul grew to become into making a demonstration. It does not say that baptism of the lifeless enables them be stored or helped. The Bible makes it quite sparkling there is not any threat to be stored after death. i'm hoping this helps with some understanding related to the matters. you need to use this records as a proof of our christian understanding of this coaching or passage.

You are correct. Once you die your eternal fate is sealed. This scripture came up a while back in our Church. Calvinistic thought teaches that the persecution was so great in the days of the early Church that to be baptized as a public witness to receiving Christ as Savior was almost the same as signing your own death warrant. If there is no Resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead. The word "for" could be defined as "seeing that" or "since." So the meaning could be "what will those do who are baptized, seeing that they are dead" (both spiritually and very likely physically)...."if the dead rise not at all." Then he says, "why are they then baptized for the dead," or knowing that it means their death - not just a spiritual picture but a physical reality as well. Why would you sign your own death warrant if there is nothing after death? Otherwise people would simply, eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die and there's nothing after that. This explanation then follows right on into the next verse which says "and why stand we in jeopardy every hour?" In their day when you were baptized you truly were "dead" in Christ - spiritually and physically.

YES they do (baptise the dead) - thats why they want genealogical family records and why they have the BIGGEST genealogical library in the world in Salt Lake City.
Just check out Family Search and read ALL about it.
Q
Why do members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints trace their family history and do genealogical research?
A:
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints emphasizes the importance of family relationships and believes that families can be united in the most sacred of all human relationships—as husband and wife and as parents and children—in a way not limited by death. Through priesthood authority from God, marriages are performed in temples. These marriages can continue throughout this life and for all eternity. In addition, children are "sealed" to their parents, meaning that their relationship to their parents will continue even after death. In order to give these same blessings to their deceased ancestors, Church members seek information about their ancestors to be able to perform marriages and sealings on their behalf. These ancestors may then choose to accept these sacred rites.

Mormons are not true Christians, they are a sect that chose to believe in Smith. Smith got his so called revelation of the book of Mormon when he was drunk and hallucinating. I know some others might try to say the same about the Bible but the Gospels for one are proof of the reality of it. The harmony of the gospels are hard to deny although I'M sure some will try.
Deuteronomy 12:32 (New International Version)
32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

If there be no resurrection of the dead, those who, in becoming Christians, expose themselves to all manner of privations, crosses, severe sufferings, and a violent death, can have no compensation, nor any motive sufficient to induce them to expose themselves to such miseries.
But as the believers receive baptism as an emblem of death in voluntarily going under the water, so the believers receive it as an emblem of the resurrection unto eternal life, in coming up out of the water; thus they are baptized for the dead, in perfect faith of the resurrection. The three following verses seem to confirm this sense.
Mormon's have incorrectly interpreted the passage and built an entire doctrine around it using bad hermeneutics.

And please explain to my why you are asking Christians to give you an explanation of MORMON doctrine????? You must also get your info on Jews from Nazi's...
First of all we don't believe that once you die, that's it and you either go to heaven or hell. We believe all spirits await the millenium, resurrection and final judgement, though we believe there are some who are resurrected already - such as some ancient prophets...
Anyways, we believe that your spirit goes to either "spirit paradise" or "spirit prison" depending on righteousness during this life. We also believe that EVERY person who ever lived or will live MUST have the chance to accept or reject the gospel. It would not be fair for those who never had the chance to just "go to hell"...God is just and must be fair or he would cease to be God. Now, say there is a person in spirit prison who is taught (yes even Jesus taught those in spirit prison during his 3 days between death and resurrection) the gospel and accepts it. We believe there are certain ordinances that must be done in order to obtain exaltation in the highest of our Father's Kingdoms - the Celestial - and baptism is one of those ordinances. How do you think that person would feel knowing that had their ordinances been done on earth, they could enter the Kingdom?...that is why we perform those saving ordinances for those who have passed on - they are in spirit and cannot perform "physical" ordinances. Their agency is never taken away, if they choose to accept the gospel, their ordiances are done, if not, the ordinance is just invalid and has no meaning to them. I believe there are many who accept and many who do not. But, again, they have their agency and can choose for themselves.
I have performed many ordinances by proxy for women who have passed on...I believe those who accept are grateful and that there are even some spirits just waiting for their work to be done.
Please, when you want to know about MORMON doctrine, ask Mormons, not ex-mormons, not people who have "heard" about our beliefs... You will not get correct answers if you ask those who have "studied" up on the church - they usually do their study from anti-mormon literature and "learn" things that are half-truths, falsehoods, misconceptions and some just flat out lies.
You would not ask a carpenter how to perform brain surgery and expect correct information would you??

I don't follow the ways of christianity, but the muslims believe that Jesus was a false prophet. Who are you to know whom is right or whom is wrong? You laugh at the Latter Day Saints, the Muslims laugh at you, and the Pagans laugh at them all.

It's called baptism by proxy. They believe that after someone dies, they can be forcibly converted to mormonism. This is why they have such extensive genealogy records--no one wants to risk a family member going to hell. They have baptised all the popes, including the most current dead one, going all the way back to the crusades.
