I think it would be better if you used a course salt or kosher salt, not table.

Yes you can mix them. Use 1 tea spoon of salt and 2 table spoons of garlic powder. Onion soup mix works good in place of the salt.

If you want some help... this is how you hook it up:
Brown the roast in real butter (half a stick or so) with a large onion and 1 cup of mushrooms add the garlic powder and salt and a table spoon of black pepper. A dash of basil.
Add one can of cream of mushroom soup and 1/2 cup of red wine, carrots, potato's, and celery. Cover and cook at 325 degrees for four to five hours. Start checking it after three hours. The roast will fall apart with a fork. It does not matter how cheap or expensive the roast is... it will turn out so special.
Now you all have the best pot roast ever!!!!!

I use garlic powder all the time & it is fine to put on. You do not need to mix it with salt first.

I've never used Garlic Powder before, but I would suggest to use a little at a time as you can always add more later if you need to. Try using fresh garlic in future, it has a lovely, fresh taste. Once you use fresh garlic you'll never go back.

Yes, garlic powder works when mixed with salt, though it is alot stronger in taste. Just sprinke both on to the joint or whatever you are roasting and rub in.

If it were me I would just use the garlic powder. I don't add salt to anything I cook...I let everyone add there own at the table.

I think garlic salt and garlic powder are nasty - what's wrong with using some nice fresh garlic?
