There is "Panca Shradda" or 5 basic fondation believe for Hinduism. Number 1 of 5, is clearly say that Hinduism worship and believe in one Almighty God, which in our word we called Almighty God as "Brahman" (not Brahma, Brahma is a Deva).

Under Brahman (God), there's also Deva and Devi, which in your words you also called it "God".

If we speak it in English, Hindu is polytheisthic, but if we speak in Sanskrit, Hindu is monotheisthic... Because English doesn't have the word / vocabulary to explain it.. Example : there's no word for Deva (male) or Devi (female) in English, so in English they translate it as God. Which is not right. Christian is also worship / pray to Saints and Angels, does it means that they polytheistic ? What if some language translate Saints and Angels as God ?

Deva and Devi, in Veda there's only 16 of them..not as much as you think, ha ha ha lol..

There's many things in Hinduism (Sanskrit) that can't translate in English or other languange.

Honestly, I don't care if I'm polytheistic or monotheistic... All I know that my religion totally fit in me and the most important thing is it's make me a better man...

I'm sorry for my english. Ahimsa (no to violence) bro !!

In the Hindu scriptures, there is a stanza that goes, "There is only one Truth; it is known by different names". The different names of Truth and their visual representations are what people call "Gods". Hindus believe in one only God. The "Gods" are merely symbolic representations of that one Supreme Being - the Truth. e.g. Brahma represents creation and Shiva represents destruction. Also, may of the "Gods" are actually characters from Hindu mythology which draws a lot upon Hindu religious ideas. Rama and Krishna are shown as incarnations (avatars) of Vishnu the protector and stories woven around these avatars which form a part of Hindu mythology.

The Vedanta (culmination of the Vedas) philosophy declares that each of us can find the Supreme Being within oneself.

The concept of deities in the science of Spirituality is best explained with an analogy. Have you ever wondered why there are myriad colours in the world when we have only three primary colours i.e. red, blue and yellow?

We know that various permutations and combinations of the three primary colours lead to so many new colours.

So also though God is one, He manifests in various ways to perform the various individual functions in the Universe. In order to perform the various functions in the Universe, God manifests in five primary principles. They are:

Creation: Everything is created

Sustenance: Everything that is created is sustained

Dissolution: Everything that is created and sustained is destroyed

Multiplicity: God is in everything

Bliss: The quality of God is supreme and everlasting happiness

These five primary principles combine with each other in myriad ways to give millions of unique aspects of God to perform various functions in the Universe. For example, there is an aspect of God that facilitates learning, teaching, protecting, health etc. According to the science of Spirituality each such aspect of God has a form and is known as a deity. There are a total of 330 million deities, each having their unique role in the Universe.

just as many rivers finally merge in the ocean...all your prayers (to various gods) finally reach me....

That is what is said in the gita..the holy book of the hindus.

One rule doesnt fit all the people....as many the people so many are the paths to god says hinduism...

Hindus belive in one god not many gods as people of other nations/religions think..

In the gita the lord says

"whosoever workships me in whatever form I shall reach him thru that form"

so Hindus pray to so many gods, hindus even pray to christ, buddha, allah etc.

how would the world be, if everyone spoke the same language, ate the samefood, and dress in the same type of clothes?

Unity in Diversity...In the universe there seem to be a multitude of things....but why then its called a universe?
the reason for this is that something is in common in everything...

so, you choose a form that you like, that will keep your mind steady and pray to it, meditate on it...

god is one....paths are many.....and the best path is the one thats best suits you. and your path may not suit the other person.

so hinduism makes the world "work" without any quarrels, because it understands that one rule doesnt fit all....thats why there have been no crusades in Hinduism...thats why there are no missionaries who ask you to convert to hinduism....thats why hindus pray to all gods and respect all religions.

do u understand?

Because there are so many things in this universe and you need things or gods to keep the balance.

I'm not Hindu I don't really know.
