Ulysseys S Grant once said of the Mexican-American war:

"one of the most unjust ever waged on a weaker country by a stronger."

Supporters of the Iraq War do you think Mr.$50, old Ulysseys was "with the enemy" or "giving aid and comfort to the enemy", or "with the terrorists".

Can we fianlly be mature enough to realize that wars where we are attacked (Afgahistan, WWII, 1812) are diferent then wars where we choose to intervine (Iraq, Vietnam, Mexican-American War) and that some wars like Iraq really aren't just.

What's your point?

We went into Iraq because Saddam refused to conform w the United Nations edict that he allow inspectors to examine his weapons facilities.

He was warned by the UN, & was given ample warning by the United States. In fcat plenty of time to have byried or moved any poison gas still held or other similar WMDs. Just because we didn't find all of them doesn't mean he had none....any more than OJ Simpson being acquitted of murder charges meant he couldn't have done it !!

Saddam chose to be the tough guy & we called his bluff along w an allied coalition.

While the original mission was accomplished, unfortunately a general civil war has followed between waring religious factions, which is not the war we set out to engage in, but as the President said, "It's the one we have"

I want to see this wrapped up ASAP as much as anyone. I served this country for 6 years in the Navy. And believe it or not I had shipmates DIE.....even tho it was during peace , the military is a dangerous occupation!!

Sadly noone took notice of those brave men who died for this country...it wasn't fashionable to pay attention then!!

If we would have pre-emptied Hitler before he invaded Poland and other countries to take over the world and to kill 6 million jews, we would have been accused of the same bullcrap logic you are bringing up now.

Sometimes, "a stitch in time saves nine", was it Ben Franklin who said that?

We are killing terrorists in Iraq and retarding their global operations. Do you not have enough common sense to realize that? If you don't, then perhaps your mother should have aborted you in the womb and I bet you are for abortion, for some reason - which would be a good argument for it in this case.

Ironic you would reference Grant, as Lincoln was frequently criticized for that long unpopular war he refused to quit on too.
