according to this article, all the components for the fat man bomb were delivered by air and not by ship, to tinian island.
The Fat Man plutonium core, and its initiator, left Kirtland Air Force Base, for Tinian Island on July 26, 1945 in a C-54 transport plane. It arrived on Tinian on July 28. Also on July 28, three specially-modified B-29s flew from Kirtland Field carrying three Fat Man bomb assemblies, including units F-31 and F-32, each encased in an outer ballistic shell. These arrived at Tinian on August 2, the first Fat Man units to do so. The bombing date was set for August 11 at this time, with Kokura as the target.
the reason being was that they actually had enough plutonium for several weapons of the fat man model, and could afford to lose one by air. the component for the little boy bomb was uranium that wasn't available in any appreciable amount except for one weapon: that was to be delivered by ship, with the stipulation that if the ship was attacked and sunk, the cargo was to get in the first available life boat ahead of the sailors.
so, there wasn't a ship delivery of the bomb dropped by bocks car. it was flown by an aircraft.

The USS Indianapolis delivered both atomic bombs to the Tinian island in the Pacific. One of the bombs was dropped on Hiroshima on 6-August-1945 and the other one dropped on Nagasaki on 9-August-1945.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

About an hour before the bombing, the Japanese early warning radar net detected the approach of some American aircraft headed for the southern part of Japan. The alert had been given and radio broadcasting stopped in many cities, among them Hiroshima. The planes approached the coast at a very high altitude. At nearly 08:00, the radar operator in Hiroshima determined that the number of planes coming in was very small—probably not more than three—and the air raid alert was lifted (to conserve fuel and aircraft, the Japanese had decided not to intercept small formations).
The three planes of the strike flight were the Enola Gay (named after Colonel Tibbets' mother), The Great Artiste (equipped to deploy instrumentation), and a then-nameless B-29 later called Necessary Evil (the photography aircraft).[11] The normal radio broadcast warning was given to the people that it might be advisable to go to air-raid shelters if B-29s were actually sighted, but no raid was expected beyond some sort of reconnaissance.
At 08:15 (Hiroshima time), the Enola Gay dropped the nuclear bomb called "Little Boy" over the center of Hiroshima. It exploded about 600 meters (2,000 ft) above the city with a blast equivalent to about 13 kilotons of TNT (the U-235 weapon was considered very inefficient, with only 1.38% of its material fissioning),[12] instantly killing at least an estimated 90,000 people[13]. Of this number, there were approximately 2,000 Japanese Americans who died from the blast and another 800-1,000 who lived on as hibakusha. As U.S. citizens, many of these Japanese Americans were attending school before the war and had been unable to leave Japan.[14] It is likely that hundreds of Allied prisoners of war also died.[15] The radius of total destruction was about 1.6 km (1 mile), with resulting fires across 11.4 square km (4.4 square miles).[16] Infrastructure damage was estimated at 90% of Hiroshima's buildings being either damaged or completely destroyed.

The USS INDIANAPOLIS,
Wasn't it sunk shortly after delivering its payload ? and was so secretive that allied vessels new nothing of its whereabouts and that most of the crew were eaten by massive fenzied schools of tiger sharks in the waters hopelessly awaiting rescue !
