Dear Friends,

My problem stems from the fact that as I am downloading files, and my PC connects to the new uploaders, Norton kicks in and tells me that a remote system is trying to access my system.

This is fine, I just press PERMIT. However, I have to do this about twenty times over the period of an average download. I have set Norton to ignore it, but it still continues.

Can you suggest any remedies for this problem?

Yes, uninstall Norton, it's NOT what it used to be. There are MANY other very good anti-virus programs out there now. Norton is like the ford of yester-year today.

Get AVG FREE Anti-Virus here.........

I've had computer guru friends in the past that preferred Kaspersky, it's just not as well known but that doesn't mean it's an inferior product. I liked it a lot when I had it...the computer I have now is a hand-me-down and has Norton on it and it performs okay, but I'd most likely go with Kaspersky products if I wasn't already using Norton on the machine.

Yes, get rid of Norton. There is not a worse piece of software available on the market.
Get AVG free for an anti-virus, and Comodo for a firewall. Both work excellent, and are totally free.

Norton AV is horrible.. who conned you into buying that crap?
Norton anything is crap. Give us back Sygate!

Anyway, there must be a set of rules that you can manipulate so it's not so strict. But hell, i don't even use Norton.

I beleive there's an option in norton which is Internet worm protection. You just have to disable it until you're finished downloading whatever from bittorent and then enable it back.
