Shouldnt it be common sense for you to love and care for people and treat them as loving and caring as you want to be treated? Why do u need to be told this?

I once asked my Christian friend why it is wrong to kill. He told me: "Because Jesus said not to kill".......................um.................ME personally I don't kill because i know i would not want others killing me or my family . I dont need Jesus to tell me why. Why does my friend?
He couldnt answer it. Maybe you could?

We're all selfish..its a survival instinct but we all have a conscience and should know that if we didnt act civil towards each other ..it will only lead to anarchy. right?

Please no bible verses. I want to know your thoughts through your own words.
Thanks.

eccentric: why do u need a law to drive a car on the road?
it's cause of a few bad apples who dont know how to conduct themselves or are too stupid to understand that if they dont drive safely people are going to get hurt..including them. is THAT just of your answer?

advice: i wasnt implying that i never "sinned" or have done nothing wrong. no one is perfect. thats why i use my conscience and common sense as well as intelligence to avoid or learn from mistakes so i can move on. AGAIN, i dont need a book or higher power to make me understand the concequences of my actions. good or bad.
if u need it..good for you.

God's love is the agape style of love. Unconditional love! Something I don't think humans can fully comprehend. We love, but many put limitations on that love. Is that the right thing to do.. no. We should love as God loves all.. with His agape love.

Its the same as "hate". Why do some religions as well as no religion display "hate" towards those that don't believe the way they believe?

I commend your way of thinking!!! I feel that many are lost in the organized religion because they feel that it is their only 'ticket out of here', and we are taught at an early age that if you don't listen to what the priest/pastor/reverand,etc. has to say, well then you are going to hell (or the equivelent). The sad reality is that some 'said people' are to lazy to turn on thier OWN mind and think for themselves, and make thier own educated decissions from a logical thought process. I am a Christian, but also a believer in Karma and some Buddhist beliefs. I don't think that believing in both is sac religious, but I agree that as long as one takes the good from either religious beliefs, or their own moral stance, then life will reward you as deserve. I also think that too many people underestimate how easy it is to do the right thing or just be honest. Maybe if you can get the word out there more people will open thier eyes... and remember, no one can ever tell you that your feelings are wrong, because they are YOUR feelings. Good luck and keep marching.

Love is more than having a conscience...I won't do it to you so that you won't do it to me idea. Love goes far beyond that. Why is it wrong to kill? You say because I don't want to be killed so I don't do it to others. That is a very shallow understanding of Love. We do or don't do things based on eternal principles, values and truths that only come from what God has revealed about Himself and the reality of eternity (both in principle and fact). God chose to reveal the depths of Himself through two means: one, The Living Word (Jesus) and two, the Written Word (the Bible). Neither one ever contradicts the other. Those who say it does have not studied or have chosen to ignore the Bible's solutions to itself. Love is so much more than "being civil so we don't go into anarchy." I would go further with this but it means going into Scripture, which you don't want to hear.

i get your point and it makes some sense but so does recording discourse and parables to help delineate the truth or wisdom of long thought out insights into life the only problem is when fairy tales are incorporated in the mix and a tainted misleading version is promulgated in the process. how will the more complicated injustices be extricated from our moral condition to leave our moral fabric as if it were fresh from the dry cleaners before we indict offenders for our own protection ? who decides ? how do we discern justice from revenge so our legal system is more well put than it is now. where there is a will there is a way . find the real needed goals and the methods will become available.

Yeah, it is foolish to follow some book 100% and think for yourself 0%. But it is also foolish to think you know everything 100% and anything else that could teach you something at 0%. There are powers out there much greater than you, if you will not blind your mind against them like bible thumpers do to anything not in the Bible. There are many great lessons in these books that you can add to thinking for yourself. It is sad so many can't see the benefits of a good mix of the two, lessons of old, and thinking for yourself.

you start up out incorrect we don't choose God to coach us to love or to coach us to no longer kill. What you don't get is that there are 4 thousand years of Judeao Christian ethics and teachings that have formed the international we are residing in. it may properly be which you does no longer have comparable morality you do if it weren't so. All you may desire to do to make specific it incredibly is to study a sprint background on cultures that did no longer have a Judeao Christian background to ascertain how they dealt with the ideas of affection homicide and the status of a guy. Even in Judeao Christian background we've not appeared at issues as we do right this moment. interior the top you're what you're via fact of all those ideas that got here in the previous you lots of that are Christian in foundation. you probably did no longer shape your individual morals they have been formed via the society you have been raised in. the final you're able to do is alter them after becoming to be an person. We seek for God via fact we would desire to that's in our hearts. it may't be so for all yet for the Christian that's.

Your question is in error.

The book is not needed to know how to love. Imho, it is inherent in us to love. In some cases, the book is a guide for us distinguish between "different love" that most of us know today. And by that, faith is involve...so I would not dwell in that here.

Your Christian friend doesn't represent the rest of us, right?

Just don't confuse yourself....as you said, you have "conscience". Let it guide you as well.

God's love is higher than human love. It is purer, it never fades. In fact, that is so about every fine quality of God.

Human attributes are faulty. God is perfect. Don't hold yourself in such high regard; you are a sinner, like everyone else.

The bible is about discovering that we need a savior, and although we may be able to be kind or good or compassionate at times, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

We have a great example of Love in the Bible. If you want to learn the way to love, and selflessly to love, the Bible is the place.
Jesus teaches us how. If you think that you are righteous, read and you will find out that you are not. it is through this example that we may perfect our love.

Where do you think your conscience comes from?! The Good Lord has instilled in us to know the difference between right and wrong. Take for instance Adam and Eve, they knew they had done wrong. Your friend has chose to believe in Jesus Christ because he knows it's right.
