In ac circuits fuses are used in phase lines while in dc circuits fuses are used both the lines.
Phase line is the live wire.If we use fuse in neutral line(in case of ac)the fuse will blow if there is excess current,but the phase line holds the voltage.If there makes a ground path,surely the current flows.This means that neutral fuse is not safe.Is your doubt cleared? Thank you

The neutral side of a circuit is only a path to ground in most cases. It wires in to the same point as your ground. Thus, it is really only there to keep you from being eletrocuted when operating the device. Under normal conditions, the neutral has no load to fuse.
