i recently got engaged. like yesterday. and i dont know what hand my ring is supposed to go on.

Hi Veronica R. Congratulations are in order first. Now, about the rings. I say rings because it also includes your wedding ring later on. Generally speaking, in North America and the United Kingdom, the rings go on the left hand on the finger next to the baby finger. If you plan to move to Europe at any time you'll find that many countries on the continent wear the wedding rings on the right hand. Happy days to you both.

It does depend on your culture-- some culture engagement rings go on the Right hand forth finger.... and when the couple gets married it is moved to the LEFT hand forth finger. I like to think of it smiliar to changing of the tassels during graduation :D
