depends , how much rent your willing to pay? in the city( manhattan ) prices tend to be very high. there are parts of The Bronx that are not that expensive and are good neighborhoods , like riverdale , or pelham pkwy , look into the north bronx ..

Sorry for NYorkers but i wouldn't live in NY for nothing. Too much traffic, too hectic, always on the go and way too expensive to live for the quality of apts or size of houses unless you are a wealthy person. IMO.
