Depending on your career goal...

Your degree may or may not be useful to the Air Force. Philosophy doesn't come to mind as something the military makes a lot of use of.

Consider what the military is for:: To kill the enemy and break his toys.

Having one degree though implies you know how to study, and could aquire a second degree which would be more useful to a military career. Sometimes just adding a few classes is all you need to get a"minor" or a year's work for a second major.

The Air Force would of course accept you as an enlistee even without a degree... but I would bet that doesn't fit in your goals.

A major in Philosophy is a great advantage in joining the Air Force and might even be an officer if the examination is hurdled.

As of right now you would not be able to get into the officer core as a philosophy major. Right now (and for the past 4 years) the USAF is recruiting technical degrees and medical degrees. With the USAF booting out/asking for resignations of the officers even in technical areas, chances of you getting a commission is slim to none.

The best bet for you to go officer in the USAF is to come in enlisted and then take the required tests to become an officer, and even then you would have a 50/50 chance.

The military really likes anyone who has a college degree - regardless of your major. Call your local recruiting office - they will be able to give you an idea of what avenues are open to you with your college diploma - usually it is officer training and more.

Yea, it beats trying to join the Air Force as a high school drop out.

easily? depends. enlisted or Officer? the AF is drawing down, and as such, is VERY choosy about who they allow in. having adegree is not a shoe in by any stretch of the imgination, you must also have other things going for you. If you need any kind of waiver, your chances go down.
