I'd say that telling me you love me isn't like saying hello. It's thrown around way too casually, and it tends to hack me off to hear it said by 15 year old kids having inappropriate relationships. If you've been with someone for MANY months, and you've seen their best, seen their worst, and know them to be of good character, then maybe you can say it and mean it. But you don't "love" a person because you've gone out with them a few times. That's infatuation, or because you want to sleep with them- that's lust- or because they have a slamming body or a pretty face. That's plain old attraction. Once you get past all of that, you might fall in love with their character. Then you can say it honestly.
