I was hit with extreme fatigue yesterday and it won't go away. I slept for 18 hours yesterday, never waking once! My girlfriend said it was nearly impossible to wake me (usually it's very easy). I have been the same way today. Every time I sit on the couch, I am out cold. I slept through several phone calls (which always wake me). Once in a while I will experience some minor chest pain, usually after I eat or smoke a cigarrette. I have had a couple bouts of dizziness that lasts for maybe a minute or so at a time. When I wake up from these deep sleeps, I have a hard time taking full breaths and have to wait about 20 minutes before I feel comfortable breathing. I have been coughing up a bit of mucus as well. My low back has been extremely painful, but not sure how that can be causing these symptoms. Anyone ever experience anything like this?

I am 27 years old, 5'10 174lbs and workout daily (except last 2 days). I would say I am very active and in great shape.

oh my You need to see a doc ASAP.

I cannot tell you what you have, just you should.

The last time I was sleeping all the time, feeling poorly, etc etc, I went to the ER and they ended up popping me into Isolation because I had advanced hepatitis and was just that ill!

We never know. You will not get a real diagnosis in here. What you have to do is go to your doc in the morning or ER now.

The mucus bit is the sign something is really going on that you might be concerned about. To be honest, it sounds a bit like pneumonia or meningitis.

Go NOW. You have only one life so take care of it as best you can. Your body is SCREAMING a few messages at you. Listen.

You Sir, im sorry to say, sound like a very unhealthy individual. Excessive sleep has a direct correlation to a lack of exercise. By the sound of what you describing i bet you haven' got'n much exercise in awhile. I'm also sure you've heard this before, but quit smoking. I have just recently quit cold turkey after about 7 years, it was a lot easier than i expected. And i feel absolutely 100 times better. And the chest pains are your bodies way of telling you that you are entering a danger zone.
This has nothing to do with you question but maybe it will help put things in perspective

An unhealthy lifestyle will, ultimately lead to an early death. Though you are not dead yet, just think about how much you've been living. If your life were a book i would have to point out the symbolism of your sleeping so much, in that it is like you are already dead, and possible preparing the people around you for your early demise.

What meds/drugs are you taking? When was your last check up? There could be many reasons for the lethargy you are experiencing. You could be extremely anemic, suffer from hypothyroidism, a severe sleep disorder, congestive heart failure, etc.
You need to make an appointment with your doctor for a complete check up.

Joke- YOU ARE NOT IN GREAT SHAPE. Maybe on the outside but you are a cigarette smoker. Do you have any idea what smoking does just to the heart, not to mention the lungs?

That is what kills me, these people work out and look fine on the outside and go home and smoke cigs, weed, snort cocaine, etc. What a joke!
My dad never even had headaches and at 53 had pecs that most young adults would give the world for, yet he died of a massive heart attack, No warning, no pain ever prior to his death.
The medical examiner asked my mom if my dad was a cigarette smoker. When she said, "yes." He replied, "I thought so."
He died from arteriosclerosis.
Also, genetics play a role in life expectancy, etc.

Get yourself to a Dr.. these symptons reflect many possibilities.. including heart or liver problems.. liver problems are especially suspect due to your extreme fatigue.. Things like Mono or hepatitis. The latter can do damage, so get yourself looked at.
note* with all this going on you are still smoking? d'oh!
