Prayer in schools is an insult to American democracy.

Dang, I might be 33 and out of school for a long time, but, I seem to remember people reading the bible between classes, praying around the flag pole in the morning, praying before a band competition, football players praying in a huddle, etc..

Yeah, right... Prayer was "banned". Whatever..

Isn't a prayer supposed to be something "meaningful"?

But in all seriousness, who is Jesus?

Pray between classes or when the teacher steps out for coffee. Since prayer is internal, how can prayer be kept out of the schools.

Heck, I spent the entirety of 11th grade physics looking out the window and completely ignoring the teacher. I could have prayed for an hour every day if I wanted.

Not at all. There's this thing called seperation of church & state. No one is saying you can't believe in God and go to school but, not everyone believes in God or Jesus and some people don't want that pressed upon their children. That is their right. Why is prayer needed in school anyway? You shouldn't be praying to do well on a test or anything. There's plenty of other places to pray aside from school. It's not needed there and should remain out of public schools.

Prayer to which god or gods? Are you going to allow EVERYONE to pray however they wish? To Allah, Buddha, Flying Spaghetti Monster? Children can pray at school on their own time and to themselves. Apparently god can hear what is in your heart so that would mean you wouldn't have to speak out loud. Also doesn't your bible and Jesus say to pray in private?

Jesus was an ignorant uneducated illiterate person we try to keep him away from education to honor him. It would be embarrassing for him to be in school.

Don't like to honor Jesus? Then pray this.

Qur’an 8:60 “Infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.”
Bukhari:V4B52N260 “The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him!’”
Qur’an 5:51 “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.”
Bukhari [4:52:177]: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him!"

Then we'll see which one is more suitable for you. To pray for peace and salvation or to pray for islamic terror to destroy your life. Looks like some people never learn how to appreciate things around them.

i think they should leave prayer in schools. those who wish not to participate could be excused. look at what a mess is going on in the schools now. when i was growing up you never heard of kids bringing guns to school. sure, a fight would break out once in a blue moon but that was all.

They have taken Jesus out of school and many other things. I guess I would like to know that when you have a family member lying in a bed dying, who do YOU pray to? By removing him from our schools they have dictated to me that I have lost my freedom of choice, there by removing my rights to a free country.
