Try a dab of alum. You can get it at the grocery store.

My grandfather always told me to rub an asprin on the area. It tastes horrible but was effective. If that doesnt work then there are plenty of over the counter cures for cold sores, etc.

they have gels you can buy from the store that will numb them right up. like, orajel.
