the one I AM: That's not quite what I meant, but I know what you mean. When I was 9 or 10, while I & some others were waiting on the school bus one of the kids threw a rock at a stray dog and hit it. It was like an attack on me.

Holy sh*t, that's intense and thought provoking.
-----In one of your questions, you asked, 'what causes thoughts...?
Well, beings like you are the cause...
-----I AM that butterfly, and I have screamed twice...

I found a greetings card a few years ago that I have now framed and keep on my bookcase because it centres me and makes me feel at peace with the world. It says:
"Just when the Caterpillar thought his world was over, he became a butterfly".
I framed this card for two reasons;
Firstly, I have been to a point in my life where I thought that the world was so dark, there was no return and no point in living... and then I took a chance, made a decision and turned my life around. People who had known me through my depression started to describe me as a butterfly - bright and social, and commented on how wonderful it was that I had started to live again and had overcome my illness.
Secondly: I believe in reincarnation, I believe that the journey I go on next, will be even more wonderful than the one I am on now and that death is not an ending but rather a new beginning.
Therefore I believe that the caterpillar turning into a butterfly is a sign for human beings; that evolution is dramatic, extreme, and I guess a little 'terrifying and joyful', too, - but it is very real. So real that you can see it everyday, all around you, if you look.
The scream that you heard was a burst of energy and it was neither terror nor joy, it was evolution.

If I ever heard a butterfly scream, I'd probably faint. Talk about scary. I heard that lobsters scream when they boil them alive. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, but that seems really cruel (although, I'm sure the cow that provided the chicken fried steak I had for dinner didn't die a painless death).
Maybe I should become a vegan ...

hmmm.. unfortunately yes that would be the scream of terror when I saw a boy pull the wings off one! It was the scream inside me that knew the butterfly! Butterflies don't often scream for joy but I will let you know if I hear one!

Yes I have experienced a scream of terror. Please keep in mind that this answer is touching and should not leave this forum. When I was a boy I found my father and a man discussing something in the foyer. I spoke up to get my fathers attention but he was busy and told me to talk to him later. I wasn't satisfied, I had to tell him something. I spoke again in a louder tone and that is when he slapped me, he had a lit cigarette in his hand and it burned me. Then I screamed in terror! I will always have a scar.

Only two things: the crashing of the waves upon a rocky beach
and: the running of the wolves in the Arctic.
Both do this out of joy, pure joy.
Butterflies have no vocal cords.

When i was on LSD i heard them talking to me. Asking me about flowers and stuff. Really. I remember thinking "WHAT THE..??!!".. And i knew from that point on, that the LSD was working its way into my head. So i just entertained the butterfly and talked to it. To my suprise it answered back man...seriously...its like talking to a friend. Kinda amazing man if u ask me.
I mean they can be really friendly when ure high.

I don't know. My hearing isn't that sensitive so I never heard one scream from terror or joy. Sounds trippy. I tend to leave bugs alone anyway.

I met an angel with a sawed-off shotgun, wanted by the F.B.I. We dropped some acid, killed our parents, then we hit the road.

Well...I've let loose some pretty good screams before but this probably isn't the appropriate place to discuss them.
